Citizenship application from outside Canada

Is it permissible to apply for Canadian citizenship online from outside Canada (in my case from India) ?

I do fulfill all the requirements to apply for citizenship. It's just that I am not in Canada at the moment.
Can I apply online while I am in India ?

I'd appreciate any advice

Physical presence calculator does allow to enter a future date of return and on calculation it tells me I am eligible

Then it depends on what your intentions are! You will find plenty of posts here which talk about copies of all pages of passport requested, especially from those who have taken the test outside Canada. If you quote a 'future date' on the presence calculator and then that 'returned to Canada' date doesn't show up on your passport, it could be a bit of a challenge to explain.
