They have the new option if you submitted it before Dec 7, 2016 and after Dec. 7, 2016.

Looks like I interpreted it wrong. For Vietnam it is still 16 months wait. I've been waiting 9 months so I still got 7 months to go.

But it says on the bottom

"We’re working to finalize applications received before December 7, 2016 by the end of December 2017."

The processing time is 12 months if you applied after Dec. 7, 2016 for Vietnam and 16 months if you applied before Dec. 7, 2016.

I tried Taiwan which has a processing time before Dec. 7 of 10 months. After Dec. 7m 2016 it's 12 months.

Interestingly United States has a processing time of 13 months.

France before Dec. 7, 9 months and after Dec. 7 12 months.

So basically every country after Dec. 7th is 12 months processing.

yes, that is one of the main features of the new sponsorship application. processing is being equalized across the globe, so no matter where the applicant is from, they will be processed within 12 months.
