I have gotten like 3 of these emails:
"Your application has been updated. Please sign in to your MyCIC account and check your application status and messages for more information."
Yet, when I log in and check my application and it's messages, there is nothing changed. The only message I have right now is the one when I submitted the application.
Yep, I click on the link from the email. It is absolutely from CIC. Takes me right to the secure page to log in.
There's no eCAS (I don't think). It's not for sponsorship, just for extending my stay as a visitor.

I have experienced this too when I was helping my cousins renew their study permit online via MyCIC. I assume the reason of these email notice was system bug. Everytime the application is loaded/viewed/opened by immigration the applicant receives notification by error. You shouldn`t be worried. As for my cousins, shortly after this, they got the answers back from CIC. They are working on your file.
AH ok. That's rather annoying... well, hopefully it'll be done soon if they're looking at it often! haha
*crossing fingers* for an approved extension!!!
I received 5 emails like this before I could finally see that my visitor extension has been approved. If they don't ask for additional docs then your visitor extension will probably be issued and the visa will be sent to you soon
That's good to know!!!
How long did it take for them to approve yours?
It's only been 6 days since I submitted it so I'm not expecting anything just yet.
