I was wondering whether or not a notarized English translation of the Chinese Household Register (or hu kou ben) is required to be submitted along with the photocopies of all the pages in the Chinese Household Register.
I was just looking over all of our documents to be sent and I noticed that we hadn't gotten a translation for this one.

Since the hu kou ben is not in English nor French, you must include an accurate translation with a copy of the originals. According to CIC, failure to do so will result in substantial delays.
I think you can go to any notary public office in your local area in China to have the translation.
Are you sure the translation must be notarized? I don't think we had ours notarized, and I certainly would have done so if the guide had requested this. I recall we had a friend (who does translations for a living provide the translation). Now you've got me worried.

I could be wrong but I think translations need to be done by someone who is a translator. I dont know if they need to be notarized but I do believe they have to be translated by a qualified translator.
