My partner and I are in the process of completing our application for the conjugal partner sponsorship. He’s in the Philippines, married and I am a Canadian citizen. He’s been refused a TRV and won’t be able to live with me here for 12 months. My question is, he has a pending job application to New Zealand. If we submit the application now and he moves to NZ later on, will this affect our eligibility? We still won’t be able to marry there until he becomes a permanent resident and divorce his previous wife there, while Canadian citizens have a visa waiver which allows us to visit NZ but only for max of 3 months in 2 yrs. Anyone in the same boat here or any thoughts about our situation? Thank you!

Thank you. I was just worried that immigration would suggest to live together in NZ and become common law partners instead. But I believe in order for me to stay there for more than 3 months, I will have to apply for a tourist visa as the waiver is only good for 3 months stay.
Yes I saw that, but the visa waiver is max of 3 months stay. I believe if I wanted to stay longer, a tourist visa application is needed and if approved I could stay for 9 months max and extend to addt’l 3 months if needed. Do you think this would affect our application?
