Chances for second MSc in public university in Canada

Hello Mates, I am currently working in a finance-related role after completing my master's in finance and investment management in the UK. I want to pursue another MSc in finance in Canada at Laurier University. I was a bit worried about my application, and I heard my visa application gets rejected if my two masters are related to similar fields. But, I know both are different, and the new one will add a lot of opportunities to my future. I want to know if anyone went through a similar situation, and if yes, what was the outcome? or any advice to me on this is hugely appreciated. I heard that a strong SOP is a must to prove the second master's. I am looking for some suggestions, please? thanks in advance - Vid

You will need strong justification as why you want to do second Msc in similar or related field. Adding a lot of Opportunities is not strong argument before Immigration Officer especially when there are few year interval after completion of one program. Whats a reason behind and why Canada?

Thanks for the prompt mate! do you went to similar experience or do you know anyone when to the same journey? Is there any chance you have an SOP for this kind of situation?

I didnt go through similar experience, but I had Msc Accounting completed back in 2011 and I applied for MBA after 5yrs. It is enough interval for fresh knowledge and for Leadership role, as justification. But that was my case, cant apply to everyone or current circumstances

What is your status in the UK? It doesn’t make a lot of sense to do a second masters in finance. For the cost of studies it won’t lead to career progression. I also assume this may be to try to secure status and not related to career progression. In general if working in finance in the UK it would not make a lot of sense to leave work to return to school and pay significant fees to return to school and do another masters. If a top school perhaps you could justify it slightly more but to attend Wilfred Laurier it doesn’t make sense. Would add that getting PR would still not be guaranteed if you did the Canadian masters and Canada is a small country and many are moving to Canada with an international finance background and Canada can only absorb a percentage of the newcomers who want to work in Finance.
