I got my ITA in December and sent my application in the first week of January. I am inland CEC. Now all the processes have been completed. But my file has been stuck on background check since April 26 2023. I am really perplexed and am not sure what to do. I applied with an agent and even he's not sure what might be taking so long for my file. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Any advice would be highly appreciated
Hi, I am in a similar situation. Applied in CEC in Jan 2023. Have been stuck on Background check since April 2023 On contacting the local MP I was told that they are waiting for information from third party and have received the same reply since. Not sure what is happening. All else shows complete, just background check is in processing.
Hey all. Starting to panic a bit now on how to go about this. My work permit expires in April, 2024 and my background check is pending, similar to many others here.
Does anyone have any updates/insights/news that they can share?

I'll apply for the BOWP. My main concern is my family. Will they be able to stay back (they are currently on visitor visa with visitor record based on our PR application)? The visitor record also expires along with my work permit.
Would be very tough if they have to leave the country and then apply for visitor visas again.

Folks are the 3 of you in enhanced Security or comprehensive screening, did you order GCMS notes from CBSA or CSIS and check the reasons for the delays?
On calling IRCC I was told that criminality has passed, but information sharing and security is under process. Not sure if that is enhanced security. I have applied for GCMS notes earlier this month and have not received anything yet. Do you know if enhanced security takes too long?
I also have applied for my TRV as it expired, but that too has been stuck on background check since June 2023.

Once you get the GCMS notes read and find when the Security started even for normal processing it can take a month or 2. Sometimes like my case the officer becomes lazy and doesn't pick the file for review for a few months. Good luck. Enhanced security is usually mentioned as Comprehensive check or C-Check in the GCMS notes, try ordering for CSIS also.
What does this mean? If I have LMIA work permit & I claimed 50 points for LMIA, I cannot apply for BOWP? I am May 20th 2023 AOR with application in progress & work permit expires in April 2024.

Hello,
As far as I know and I discussed it with a lawyer as well. If you change your LMIA job, you will need to inform IRCC and you may lose your 50 points and therefore the whole application

I have no plans to change my job till I get my PR approved. I just wanted to know if I am eligible to apply for BOWP while working for the very same employer on an LMIA approved bonded work pemit?
