So if your occupation falls under category C like nurse aids 3413, you cannot apply for the skill programme?

Even though Nurse Aide is on the under pressure list in alberta?

I dont understand. Can someone clarify?

If it's under pressure, it means that you can get a work permit faster. That is a temporary work permit. Under AB provincial nominee program, they allow skilled workers of level 0, A and B to be sponsored by their employers for PR as well as some semi-skilled professions. You can see that at http://www.albertacanada.com/immigration/immigrate/ainp.html but I did not see nurses aids being covered under their PNP which means that as a low skilled worker, you would only get a work permit for 2 years, then have to go home for 4 months. You would not have the right to apply for PR. Info about low-skilled work permits at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/low-skill.asp

If you want to immigrate, you would have to:

1. find a way to qualify for another semi-skilled job that is listed by a provincial nominee program, both AB and BC have semi-skilled options.

2. upgrade your skills to an 0, A or B level position and then apply as a skilled worker, either through temporary work permit and PNP or as a federal skilled worker

3. if you qualify as a live-in-caregiver, go in under that program, work for 2 years and gain the right to apply for PR


edit.. by the way, I saw you posting somewhere else that you are an LPN, if so then you don't classify as a nurses aid, you classify as an 3233 - Licensed practical nurses, see http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC-CNP/app/quicksearch.aspx?lc=e&searchkey=practical+nurse and that is a B class skilled profession.

THanks for your advice. You are correct i have a certificate in LPN but i have not yet take the exam for the license and i have no experience as yet working as a LPN. I have experiience working as a CNA/ Nurse aide, so i was thinking that i could apply under the CNA since i have over 1 yr experience doing that.

About the alberta under pressure jobs this is the site where i saw it http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/en/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/oup/abouplist.shtml but if you said that it will only be a temporary thing i wont go after that. How much experience do i need in LPN to apply for skill worker?
