I have reference from another city in Canada... We didn't see each other almost 2 years.

My hairs changed, my weight changed and my address too... We keep in touch though internet. I think I should mentioned about
my physical appearances and everything

And by the way, how the office knows if they are calling same person as the application form? Are they also checking references too?

In my case, they asked my guarantor, They usually call the guarantor. ... they asked how we met and how long we knew each other for.

Its simple,

They will leave a message and a contact number.

Make sure the reference person knows you very well and is responsible to answer or that he will call back.

The questions are usually related to how well he knows you and they make an attempt to verify the facts.

Im not sure. Check the requirements. I think it should be a person from a different address.

Basically your guarantor has to be your reference and should be a Canadian Citizen and can be your close relative to, must have known you for 2 years. This is all I know and it worked for me when I had to apply the passport for my daughter.

I finally applied for passport. Officer asked me couple questions about my references.

I didn't have a qarantor so I filled another form and signed by commissioner.

I have been told ,my passport will send to my address in 2 weeks. I paid regular 10 years $160.

Guys if you plan to visit USA get your driver licence changed to enhanced driver licence so you dont have to carry passport at land border.

unfortunately yes..You will need a grantor and references.

I wrote this issue on my previous posts... I found this unnecessary .
You are already a citizen of this country and grantor is granting what. If you mess up with your Canadian passport
during abroad, grantor will take responsibility for that?

It means we will able to change our driving license and use like as a passport for our US visits?

Yep. Go to service canada website and do it now if anyone wishes. But a scheduled interview is mandatory. Scheduled fees is $40 plus regular licence fees
