if your reference miss the call, your Citizenship might be revoked and you will need to start the process again, lol.. kidding.

they will call him/her again, and again... lol

Cheers... life is too short to think about these little matters buddy... my logic says: 1) give two numbers of your referene and let your reference know that you are applying for passport... can he/she answer the phone for two weeks? if not, get another reference.

I applied for urgent passport and they had called both my references and guarantor. They had asked detailed questions like my age, address, kind of work i do, my hair colour, my skin tone, how do I appear, height, weight and even if I have a beard or mustach. So keep your references and guarantor updated.

Yep the questions get pretty personal, so make sure your references and guarantor knows you well as greencard15 mentioned!

Three passports in my home, never called any references. At least one dozen people have used me for reference, never got a call. But still if they wish to or if your number popped up by chance/luck for QC turn, expect a call.

No, normal one. May be after a few months.

May be, they take "Urgent" as "abnormal" condition too!

Yes they do, when we applied for our daughter passport, they did call the reference. Don't mess around and the reference has to know you personally for 2 years. Has to be a Canadian citizen.

It doesn't say reference has to be a Canadian citizen...Just the qurantor has to be Canadian citizen with a passport.

By the way, I find passport application weird. You are already Canadian citizen so why you have to find a qurantor/ references.

also they cannot expect the reference to know the weight / employer name / kind of job etc. They are too personal, including skin tone and hair colour
