From what you say you, your experience will not qualify you for CEC but do you qualify for FSW by any chance?. I believe that you have to have '3 months' or less to be able to apply for a WP extension.
Unfortunately, you can’t extend your PGWP. You would have to find an employer that is willing to go through the LMIA process. If a positive LMIA in hands, you could apply to a new WP.
Thanks everyone. One more question: self-employed experience doesn't count in CEC, but does it count in FSW's one year work experience? If so then I think I can apply FSW?
From what I know the LMIA process can take an extremely long time as the employer has to extensively advertise the job and basically prove that they are employing you as a foreign worker because they cannot find a Canadian who can do the job. Can take months to complete from what I have heard.
Thanks a lot JoacRy! I guess I will apply for FSW instead of CEC... does FSW take much longer than CEC? Or both can be done in 6 months in Express Entry?
The process with FSW may take longer as there are more requirements than the CEC immigration streamline. More requirements means more documentation which in turn can lead to greater application examination by case officers, additional background checks etc.
I have read threads on this forum where some people under FSW have had their application procrssed quickly and others where the process has taken longer.
The way I see it, the more precise information you provide the faster an application can potentially be processed.
