Hi all, I am in the final stages of sending off my sponsorship package (I recently married a Mexican national). My wife lived in Canada for two years (she is living in Mexico right now), do we need to get a Canadian criminal record check in order to proceed since she lived in Canada? If the answer is yes, how long does that process take? I tried searching as much on the internet but could not find a conclusive answer.
Again, she has gotten a criminal record check from the Mexican authorities; I am asking solely about if she would need a Canadian criminal record check because she lived in Canada.
No. The guide states very clearly and in bold, that criminal/police checks are required only for countries other than Canada.

These documents are to be provided for each country other than Canada, in which you have lived for six (6) consecutive months or longer since reaching the age of 18.
She would only need to get a Canada police report, if it was specifically asked for during the processing.

Thanks so much. I heard from what I can now call an unreliable source that she did indeed need one. If there was a self face palm I would do it to myself. Thanks Rob
