I am an Indian born citizen. After becoming a Canadian citizen, do I qualify for US green card as a Canadian citizen or as a person of Indian origin.

Will my case be any better than an Indian citizen who does not have a Canadian citizenship yet?

The priority dates for greencards (I-485) in the United States goes by the person's country of birth and not country of citizenship. So depending on which category you apply in, you are no better off than any other Indian with Indian citizenship.

what about temporary work visa (H1B) ? how long he can work in US (without applying for labour/GC) ? Is there any special norms/treaty rule apply as he is a canada citizen ?

You can apply for TN (Non immigrant NAFTA professional) visa and work in the US if you are a Canadian citizen. I'm not sure how many extensions are possible. But you can apply for TN, come to work in the US and then change to a H1B if you want to file for greencard. Here is the information on TN visa.

You qualify if you are worth qualifying. Nobody will give you a US GC just because you have Canadian citizenship.
