My fiancé and I will be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship at the end of March 2021. At the same time my fiancé found out that her mother's application for her to become a USA permanent resident was approved after she received an email from the USA national visa center.
We plan on living in Canada so don't want to do anything that would risk our Canadian citizenship application being denied. However, after waiting close to 15 years for her permanent resident under her mother's application, it would be silly for her to close that door.
I would just like to know if her taking the next steps to accept her US permanent resident would affect her Canadian citizenship in any manner. She needs to take the next step by May 2021 otherwise the her US national visa center will close her case.
Any advise would be appreciated. Does anyone know if her continuing with the US permanent residence will affect the Canadian citizenship in anyway? Does she have to write down on the Canadian citizenship that she has that other process?

Apply for Canadian citizenship. Get the GC. Make sure you try to maintain your residency within stipulated period(which means moving to US to reside).
You dont need to stay in Canada for completing citizenship process(except that you can just drive to Canada for test and oath).
I would avoid waiting inside Canada just to complete the citizenship processing after getting GC stamp( i meant to move to US within the correct date).

Thank you. Will be applying for for citizenship in Canada at end of March as that is a priority then I'll start the GC steps by following the instructions given by the US national visa center.

Also you dont need to wait till apr to proceed with nvc because its not going to give you any immigration status and it takes time to process hence you can very well proceed with your next step.
Currently no. It is currently a bigger issue for the US to discover that she is applying for citizenship and the GC.
There is a good chance there will be an election this year and Erin O'Toole is right leaning conservative so if he wins would keep an eye on any changes that he plans on making.
