I emailed the embassy to inquire about my case. They wrote:
Dear Applicant,
This refers to your visitor visa application. Your application is currently under processing.
Due to exceptionally high volumes of applications, our processing times are longer than usual. In the interests of fairness, applications are processed in the order in which they are received, thus we are unable to accommodate your request for expedited processing.
The fairest way to deal with applications is on a first come, first serve basis. Please note that our processing times are listed on our website www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times.
