i think a new immigrant will be challenged in both countries....i would say both are beautiful countries and known for high standards of living..but in the end - a new immigrant's chances of success depends on the job market situation and the "transferable" skills which he
/she brings along. In any developed country - its the stable job + good earnings that makes you happy...regardless of the country itself.
