First of all, I want to clarify that I am not against immigration to Canada. In fact I am already in queue (see my signature). I am starting this thread to discuss the Canada job market for new immigrants. I would like to request the members to share their views. Most importantly, I would like the comments and feedback from the members who already landed in Canada as PR...(I wonder how many people will still be visiting canadavisa.com after landing but still, I know many who keep helping and contributing...so I am positive..
The 2016 IRCC plan says 300K new immigrants and about 60K alone in FSW category.....but from where these many jobs will come?

...did you get a job? how is this job in comparison to what you were doing outside Canada? Any challenges? How is the overall market?
This is an important discussion because once the wait for PR is over, we have to think about the next step...
Job market is abysmal right now. Canada has a resource based economy so things aren't pretty coz of crumbling oil prices. Still you pay almost double for gas here than in US. Getting a job depend upon your expertise and whether you are able to get a license if you work in regulated profession like being lawyers, doctors, nurses etc. Management background guys dont do any good here. Most of them end up working in customer service in banks or insurance companies. At first it seems fine as you see dollars coming but soon you realize that your purchasing capacity with those salaries has actually gone down as compared to home country . Software and computer professionals get little bit of decent jobs but most of the good opportunities lies in US.
Healthcare is good as you pay for provincial medical plan every month but all they cover is doctor visits for cough and fever and child delivaries. You still pay tons of money to buy medicines, surgeries and Hospital stays. Not the mention the unrealistic waiting time. In BC, the waiting time for getting a MRI scan is 8 months. Can you imagine someone living on pain killer just to wait 8 months for MRI. Which cost around $60 in countries like India and you get it done the same day.
Its a good place if-
1- you work in regulated profession like lawyer, doctor, nurse, dentist etc
2- computer or software professional
3- child of a rich businessman
4- labourer and doesnt expect much from life, coz lot of labor jobs.
If you fall somewhere in the middle, it ain't pretty. You will try to justify it in you mind that you did the right thing by moving here, but you know inside that it was a mistake.
Still it's better and safe then rest of the world. If you are a professional, go to US. If you find satisfaction in average income, high taxes and like living under constant financial stress, Canada is good.
PS- I am in Canada from 3 years, worked so hard on odd jobs plus good clinic jobs, so know a few things about Canada. Now very close to get license to practice my profession, so hopeful about future.
For professions within Oil and Gas industry times are not as bright, but nevertheless it is possible to land a job.
For IT specialist times are decently good, during times of economic hardship government trying to re-focus on to innovative sector, so my colleagues from IT field are doing good in Canada
