Hi all, I have to leave Canada for a month and I have received mail for PPR. I know that you can not fly out of country after you have done your landing and are waiting for PR card. But, can you leave Canada after getting COPR? Should I send my passport for COPR or do it after I come back? Please suggest.
and I cannot walk or drive I have to take a commercial flight.
I might be wrong but i remember reading somewhere that you will need to get PR travel document. Its issued by canadian embassies for people like you who left before getting the PR card, and it allows you enter back into canada. Hope I'm right.
Good luck
I dont understand why cant u travel after CoPR? when u get PPR u send in ur passport to get a visa(one time entry) once u get that u have to leave Canada one time and come back in which is when u have to do ur landing procedure. So u have to leave Canada to do ur landing. What I am saying is u cannot go out again after landing but before than u can leave Canada one time and come back in
Thank you for replying,
I have heard/read that while coming back form Mexico, the commercial flight would not let me in with COPR as it is not a travel document. and the landing can be done only on foot or while driving through the border.

If ur an Indian then u will get a visa stamp on ur passport which is ur travel document and CoPR is not ur travel document. Alll u need is a visa(PR visa). So when u send in ur passport after PPR u get a visa stamp(immigrant visa) like ur study visa/work visa. This visa is enough to board a flight.
You will get CoPR along with a single entry visa. This visa is used for landing. If you travel outside canada, you can use the single entry visa to travel back.
PR card and PRTD are for people who got CoPR and also used up their single entry visa for landing.
