Can you apply for a work permit before you receive LMO result?

Hi

I need a reply ASAP as I'm trying to get all my paperwork done before I head overseas for my current job for a month (after which I will be unemployed until I can work legally in Canada)

My employer is currently submitting the LMO, do I have to wait for a positive result of the LMO before I can apply for a work permit? Or can I apply for a work permit now? Or am I able to apply at the border once the LMO result is back?

I am British and will be applying through the London visa office.

1. You need the LMO to apply for the work permit.
2. You can apply at the Border with an approved LMO>

Thanks PPM! I am trying to work out the simplest and quickest option for the temporary work permit. How do I know for sure that my job isn't one of the ones that requires a medical exam (which then I would need to go through the London office)?
