I am Canadian citizen. My wife Indian. Can we apply fora visitor visa to Canada after we send in an outbound family class sponsorship application? Will it mess things up?
You can but it will probably get denied. My husband and I tried twice and got denied both times. I contacted my local Member of Parliament to look into it and they told me it is extremely rare that they get approved as the government believes your spouse won't go back because they now have a really good reason to want to stay in Canada. It's ridiculous.

Does your wife have very strong ties to India? Things like full-time employment, signed lease rental agreement (or has a mortgage) in her name, any other serious commitments that require her presence in her home country, etc? If so, you can try. It won't hurt the sponsorship application since they are separate things.
If she does not have such strong ties then it is unlikely she will be approved. But she can still try anyway if she doesn't care about the application fee.
