Yes, you can work on Implied status.
While you are waiting for your study permit extension document, you are under the same conditions of your last expired permit which means if you were allowed you work part-time on your previous study permit, then you can work in this situation.
I got my study permit two weeks ago and my program starts in September 2020 (I am currently in Canada). I know I cant work legally till school starts. I do have an opportunity to contest in an international art contest where the winner will be financially awarded by the organizers (organizers are based in USA). Will this be considered as working in Canada? Do I need any document from IRCC before participating? Please help me. TI\A

Thanks for your reply. One thing i forgot to mention is that the video for the contest will be shot here in Canada by ny brother-in-law whose videography company is registered in Cnada as a business. Will this be seen as illegal work in Canada? TIA

I also write, and I was considering freelance writing where I get paid by employers outside Canada. I am in Canada. Is this also considered as working illegally in Canada?
