Can I apply for study permit inside while I'm already applied for a new visitor's record?

My visitor's record will expire soon, so I'm going to apply for a visitor extension (new visitor record). Am I eligible to apply for a study permit while I'll be waiting for a decision about my visitor record? My spouse holds WP, so I'll apply inside Canada

Thank you. And what do you think, is it ok to apply in one day for both (visitor record and study permit)? Or should I wait some days after I apply for visitor record and then apply for study permit?
