Hello People

I landed to Canada last year holding my open work permit ( i am a dependent to my husband who holds a closed work permit for IBM). Since my husband's contract got expired, thereby my work permit also got expired.
My husband got an extension for one more year, starting from feb 28th 2015. right now i don have my status extended.
Can i apply for open work permit directly or should i extend mt status as visitor first.
Any help is appreciated.
