Can Common-Law Partner extend work permit too?

Hi, I would like to ask if my common law boyfriend is the province nominate, I am holding tourist record, we applied PR, the process delay because of the COVID 19, he applied to extend the work permit through 204(c) letter of support, can I apply the work permit at the same time too? What should I do if IRCC reject me?

As the spouse of a provincial nominee you are entitled to apply for an open work permit.
