Calculating Days of Presence for PR Card Renewal

Hello,

I am not clear on how to calculate the number of days of physical presence to satisfy the 730 days. If I have taken short trips do the days of departure and arrival count as days of absence?

If not, suppose I travel to the US and return to Canada the next day (for example: travel to US 18-Jan, travel back to Canada 19-Jan), how many days in that case count as absent from Canada?

Based on others' experiences, how long before the expiry of the PR card should the renewal application be submitted?

Any day spent partly in Canada counts as a full day of residence. So the departure and arrival dates count as being present in Canada.

In your US example, it would count as zero days’ absence.

You can renew a PR card it if expires within the next 9 months as started in the renewal guidelines.
