Hi Folks
I have been nominated by Ontario PNP under masters graduate stream. I am currently on a PGWP expiring in Nov 2014. I am planning to file my PR application in 3rd week of July. I received a letter of support for work permit extension along with my nomination certificate, the extension is for 18 months. I want to know that when exactly I can/should apply for the work permit extension? Can I do with after I receive AoR or do I need to wait for medicals request or something?

Hello Ameet747
You can apply for extension under two categories. The first one being on the supporting letter you received and the other will be apply after you receive your AoR. The benefit of applying after receiving your AoR is that you will get a Open work permit so you can change the employers. ( if you apply for extension before AoR you will get a closed one with the employer that you are currently tied with) Also remember that you will have to apply for Open Bridge work Permit only if your current work-permit is due to expire in 3 months or else they will reject it and you will end up paying application fees twice. Hope this helps!!
Hi Rocky_bombastic,
Can you please share if you submitted your PCC along with your application to the CIC, or if later, then at what stage of your application?
Thanks

Thank you! But, I got my nomination under the Master's graduate WITHOUT a job offer stream. So does it still mean that my extended work permit will be a closed one, if I apply on the basis of the supporting letter?
Also, if I indeed choose to apply after receiving AoR, would I still have to submit the supporting letter that I received with the nomination?

If you apply on the basis of documents you got with your pnp certificate then you will get closed WP. If you choose to apply for a WP after you submitt the application for PR you don't have to submitt supporting documents you get with the Pnp all you need to submitt is the application form , passport copy, one photograph(mandatory) and job offer later (optional). Hope this helps

Nope I did not submit my PCC with my application. I mailed them 2 months later to them and emailed them to confirm that they received it.

Very nicely explained ivan124 but I would like to add that you are required to add PNP approval certificate for open work permit application.
