Hello guys, how many weeks does it take for the status below to change to 'we are reviewing whether you meet the requirement for the program'
  • Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility.
There's no set time. read the last few pages to get a sense of other people's timelines and then you can take an average. Sometimes they are processed faster, sometimes they take a bit of time.

My immigration lawyer applied for a BOWP March 23 2021, my pr application was also submitted on the 23rd March, I haven’t heard a thing for both applications, should I be making an inquiry now?
I'm in the same boat, but I applied on April 26th for both. What inquiry are you referring to? I wasn't aware there was an option to do so.

I am still waiting after 5 months.
Anyone else waiting that long?
AOR: March 15 2021
Applied BOWP: March 16 2021
R10/BIL: March 30
Haven’t heard anything since.

Yup! Still waiting. It's been extremely frustrating. Received my AOR on April 26th and applied for BOWP the same day. Haven't seen a single update on the BOWP application since except biometrics which was received on May 21st.

Any update for you? Dead silence for me. I’ve been sending a webform once a month for the last 3 months saying that my application has exceeded average processing times but i never even get a reply.

I've sent a couple of inquiries so far, one for address change and one for application taking longer than processing times. Radio silence :(

I had an invitation to apply for PR through Express Entry and applied for the same.
Currently residing and working in Canada. My work permit expires on Dec-4-2021. I would like to apply for a bridging open work permit.
IMM5710 - has a question :
I am applying for one or more of the following :
a) Apply for a work permit with the same employer
b) Apply work permit for the first time or with a new employer
c)Restore my status as a worker
d) get a new temporary resident permit.

I am a bit confused about which one would be the right choice for an open bridging work permit. It would be great if someone can help me with this.

Question 2: Also can I continue to work after the current work permit expiration once I apply for the BOWP? or should I be receiving it before my current one expires?

Thanks in advance for reading through this. your help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You may have already figured this out, but you should answer b) apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer and make sure to select open work permit. leave the questions about the job offer blank.

As long as you apply (online) for the bowp before your current work permit expires you can keep working after your current one expires. You just need to wait until your current work permit has less than 4 months validity remaining, that’s one of the eligibility rules. After you apply you should get a receipt called WP-EXT except PGWP (classic ircc jargon) with an expiry date on it that’s 4 months from the date you applied. You can keep working even after that date as well, until you get a decision. As of tomorrow I’ll be waiting 6 months for mine. Here’s a link to instructions that I used to apply. Hope this helps.

Hi guys,
Applied for bowp with spouse : July 06
No updates in between.
Approved: aug 25
When you applied, did you receive a letter like this

"This confirms that your application has been received by IRCC on Sep 11, 2021

Please attach this letter to your present work permit number UXXXXX as proof that you are authorized to continue working with the same conditions until Jan 09, 2022 or until a decision is made on your application, whichever is first. This extended period of work is authorized as per subsection 186(u) of the immigration and refugee protection regulations. If you leave Canada before a decision is made on your application, you will no longer be authorized to continue working"

Does BOWP now take longer time for processing? My BOWP in March only took a week to get approval while my friend's has been under processing for almost 2 months and no update yet.
