Thank you. However, somehow I really ain't excited with just the BOWP. If old CEC was processed as planned I wouldn't need BOWP in the first place, let along the whole chaos from "BOWP rule changes" which got me into weeks of bad mood, sleeping trouble, and cancellation of costly vacation plans.

did u apply by online or paper? also when was the last time u got ur gcms notes? im also sept cec applicant n applied for my 2nd bowp by paper on nov 6 2015.
Mine was paper application coz processing time seemed a few days less than online.
GCMS was dated November 23, 2015.
On second thought, it may be wise for me to order another GCMS to see if as of today the Eligibility is set passed.

Question: I’ve applied for Permanent Residence under the Canadian Experience Class. I haven’t received my AOR yet but my work permit expires in three weeks. What should I do?
Answer: Many people find themselves in this situation. They are waiting for their AOR (which takes about 60 days to receive after filing) but their work permit is set to expire before they will receive it. You are still eligible to apply and should do so a few days before your work permit is set to expire. Here’s why:
When Canadian visa officers are assessing your application, they will either look for an AOR, which is included in the application, or they will check the Global Case Management System (GCMS) to see if the “Eligibility CEC” decision has been set to “Passed”. If in between the time you applied and the day the officer will assess your application (if applying on paper, this will take about 50 days or so) you will have received your AOR. Internally, when you receive your AOR, your eligibility status has been set to “Passed”. For the time between when you applied for your Briding Open Work Permit and the time you receive it, you will be on “Implied Status” as per S. 185(5)(a) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.

Well my word reasonably can mean nothing, but maybe immigration consultant's answer will convince you

Note word "internally"
"
Internally, when you receive your AOR, your eligibility status has been set to “Passed”."

It is the interpretation (Q&A) for the old rule. Please kindly check the date on the link, before you reply anything here, would you?!!! The new rule was only introduced after December 2015. And it is very clearly stated with the new requirement on CIC website already. I have suggested a way to buy more time and don't want to waste any more time arguing with you. We shall see after April 2016.
To that end and once again. Please kindly believe what you want to believe and apply your BOWP as soon as possible. And Again!!! I wish you best of Luck!!!
Thank you. I wish good luck and fast processing to all of us who are in the old CEC queue!
Both old and new BOWP rules talk about eligibility, and that Q&A clearly explains what Eligibility "passed" criteria means in our case (i.e. it is Eligibility for Processing!). Even though it was written in 2013 the definition of 'eligibility - passed' remains the same.
Another factor to consider - new rule is effective from December 1st (CIC webpage does not state otherwise) and yet majority of BOWPs in December were approved (based on posts from this forum).
I don't try to convince anybody. These are thoughts and ideas mostly for those people who prefer or try to focus on positive side of things.
Hi Everyone,
My work permit is expiring end of FEB 2016 and I was going to apply for BOWP in december, but after reading this thread I have changed my mind and now thinking to apply in the middle of FEB so I can buy some more time. I have AOR and I am an October 2014 CEC applicant.
My question is: Is it a good idea? Is there any complication of applying late for BOWP? Technically, I am still applying before my work permit is expiring.
Thank you all in advance.
I am a Sept applicant and my work permit is expiring by May this year. I should wait till May as well for applying the extension.

I'm a Sept 2014 applicant as well.
The more you wait, the more time you get by having few months as "implied status" and you can hope that they'll finalize the PR. On the other end, with the "implied status" you don't have any longer public health coverage (in my case OHIP) because it expires with your visa expiry.
I’ve already applied for my second BOWP. I’ve no way of knowing if my eligibility is met or passed, as the case may be so I am very stressed out right now as my first BOWP expires end of this month.
Some people have been talking about withdrawing and reapplying to ensure that they can keep working (on implied status) until PR comes through.
Anybody have any thoughts on this?
(I am not suggesting anybody do this, just conversing)

Make sure you ask OHIP whether they can extend your public health coverage while on implied status. I am in Alberta and I was able to get up to 3 months of coverage while on implied status. All I had to do was call and give them my BOWP application number. I realize it may/will be different across provinces, but it doesn't hurt to ask!

In my opinion apply as soon as possible rather than waiting for the last movement.
More wait means more tension & the most important thing the way CIC is working on old applications, we are not going to get PR before BOWP.
Mine is expiring in March'16 & applied for BOWP in the month of Nov'15.
Best of luck for your application/PR.

Thank you. You too, my friend. I applied in late Oct 2015. I will update as soon as I know.
I wish everyone the very best of luck!

I agree. The only option I see is to wait until very last to apply for bridge hoping that by the time they pick up our bridge application, our PR eligibility gets reviewed or they make a decision on PR application. This will buy us a couple of months on implied status, but I won't be avle to renew my drivers license and health card.
Is there a way we can get Health card renewal ?
Guys,
Couple of questions
I have seen some posts about implied status and continue working etc etc. Does anyone know if you are allowed to take/start new job on implied status?
I am Jun 2014 Applicant, I have Closed WP until July 2017 but I don't have a job. I applied for BOWP on Dec 09. my GCMS says Eligibility recommended passed but what are the chances of getting it approved since my WP is not expiring?
