My wife has completed a blended learning Ph.D from Staffordshire University UK. She only required to visit Uk twice a year for maximum a month per visit. As per CIC's PCC requirement, you need to get PCC only if you have spend 180 days continuously in a country. That was the reason, we didn't get PCC from UK. But I have read in a post that CIC has rejected an application, where a candidate didn't attach PCC from a country, from where he completed his master degree by distance learning/online degree???? Need you advise on it?

Sorry, I didn't do a degree but thought I'd let you know how long it takes to get a PCC from the UK (We currently live in Canada but are UK citizens so had to order PCC's from the UK) Also, how many years did it take her to complete the course? If it was at least 3 years and she visited twice a year for a month per visit, then that would add up to 6 months.
Check the link, it says, they only need 2 working days to process your application. Her course was of 7 years. And she spend around 194 days in UK (departure date included) in the tenure.

Then she will definitely need a PCC since she spent more than 180 days in total in the UK (they changed the criteria from 180 continuous days to a TOTAL of 180 days or more). Also, they may only need 2 working days to complete it but it can take longer. You also need to include the time it takes for the application to get to them then returned back to you - thought I'd give you a worst case scenario. Think ours took around 4 weeks from start to finish.
