My husband is a permanent resident in Canada. I am in India now. He wanted to sponsor me in the family class. We are planning to submit the documents for my PR. I don't have the birth certficate, instead we are having a affidavit of it.. My questions are:
1. Instead of the birth certificate, will they accept the affidavit of the same, my old school records which depicts my date of birth?
2. They have also asked to submit the originals of voter ID and old school records, but will they return the original copies again to me as they are very important?
We are really worried about this and I am really waiting to join my husband.. Please can anybody suggest and let me know if you have faced this kind of situation...
But I keep hearing in the threads that affidavit, school records, passport will do to prove the birth certificate... Please let me know if you have different opinions
My husband applied through New Delhi and he also did not have a birth certificate. He used an affidavit in place of a birth certificate and it was accepted with no problem. Good luck!
I am yet to begin a sponsorship application, but for my PR application, i used affidavits in place of missing birth certificates and they were accepted.
2. They have also asked to submit the originals of voter ID and old school records, but will they return the original copies again to me as they are very important?
is it possible to send them notarized copies? it would be the best way out of this situation. if not, you will need to include a cover letter together with your originals asking them to return them back after they don't need them any longer.
