Hi,
I'm sponsoring for PR + OWP for my spouse. As per official website, if birth is registered late , we need to send in additional documents for identity (This is specific to India ). Here is what it says on official website.
"
Birth certificates issued in this country:If a birth is registered late, include a copy of the original baptism certificate and copies of other original documents establishing identity such as:
Old school records (Fifth class, Middle standard and Matriculation/secondary school certificate), and
Voter's ID card.
For divorces obtained in this country, please submit copies of a complete divorce petition, a judgment and a final divorce decree."
I know it says copies of original documents, but i've seen some posts about people talking about sending original voter ID card and school records rather than photocopies. Is photocopies of school records/ Voter iD enough or do we actually need to send in the originals as well ??.
Whatever you send them is never coming back so if it asks for an original send an original. If it asks for copies send copies. Isn't there enough to do without second guessing clear instructions?

Definitely not a surprise. We all want to make sure application has everything included. Not a bad idea to confirm with people who already applied, especially for people like me who are doing it for the first time.
I understand that people feel comforted by someone's similar experience, but immigration requirements are extremely individual-centric and a) one person's experience may be deceptively relevant, but actually not so at all - a difference of 1 day in DOB, for example, can make or break eligibility and b) the inputs you are getting are from people who understand the law and how the process works - a more reliable indicator than one person's one experience.
Nothing chills my spine more than a callout to 'other people who have had a similar experience'. Here be dragons.
