Biometrics delay

I applied for parent's sponsorship, and received Sponsor Approval (it indicated parent's application would be processed in NDVO). Shortly after that my parents received biometrics letter (few weeks back). They are in-canada and need more time for biometrics (since they need to leave Canada for biometrics). I have requested few months extension for biometrics.

Would the whole application be put on hold until biometrics are done, or the rest of the process will continue (e.g.: background check, medical request, pcc request etc.)? I am little worried as they haven't received medical or PCC request yet.

thanks....did they confirm that the request extended and also they did continue processing application with other stuff like medicals/background check/additional docs etc?
