We should write to Senator Eaton and can say that we share some of her concerns re - terrorism etc, but that we are all genuine residents of this country and that we were so unfairly affected by bill C 24 - especially those of us who got our PR earlier and that it is a second class citizenship which goes against the very nature of being a Canadian. I don't know these are my thoughts, from the email from Senator Harder what I gathered is that the bill could be delayed but can't be forgotten
Good suggestion, although a quick research about Senator Eaton shows that she is a strong anti-Liberal and anti-Justin Trudeau individual. She made some harsh comments about JT before, a bit beyond what a politician from the opposing party would say. She also removed her twitter account after going on rants about bike lanes and the city of Toronto ..etc. We can try contacting her, but do you really think she cares? By the sounds of it, she must despise us and think we should not be in this country to start with. But it won't hurt to try. We have nothing to lose. What I want to understand is why would the Cons delay this bill rather than rejecting it. Either they know it will eventually be approved, so the longer it takes the more C-24 is in place (not sure what benefit that brings to them). Or probably it is so unimportant that they are just not bothering to consider it. To be fair to the Cons though, they are not obliged to table it because they are not the creators of C-6. If Libs or independents decide to bring it up, no one will stop them. I have a feeling it is on Senator Omidvar's desk now, and unless she drafts the amendments and brings the discussion back, then no one will.
Can't lay the blame Senator Eaton totally on delay - the government cant be that helpless!!! they are in majority and despite Senate separate etc etc etc........I am sure they can exert some influence....something seems to be happening....wonder whether they are amending it especially if Senator Omidvar is working on it, she may be amending it. Because earlier when I wrote she responded and Senator Harder had copied his email to me to her. But we should show our frustration otherwise they will just just take own cool time as they have nothing to lose.
would anyone know if this session ends by this december ?

Please see the reply I had from Senator Harder just now and please contact him and Senator Eaton as he suggests. ( I mean all those who are keen to see this through)
Thank you for your email. I appreciate the circumstances you face and the desire to have C-6 passed as quickly as possible. I certainly share your wish that this bill pass before Christmas. Senator Omidvar is sponsoring this bill in the Senate and is working tirelessly to advance this bill. Unfortunately, I have to acknowledge that there are some in the senate who are slowing down the process of senate consideration. We will use every effort possible to advance this bill but I cannot assure you that we will succeed before Christmas. I would encourage you to contact senator Eaton, the Conservative critic of the bill and ask that this bill be passed before Christmas.
Warm regards, P.
seems unlikely to pass the bill before Christmas which is a ridiculous delay. It should be the government leaders instead of us to sort out the conflicts with the conservatives and pass the bill.

Honestly no one can answer your question, at least not on here. It all depends on when Senator Omidvar completes the amendments and introduces them to the Senate.

It's now a fact that the bill won't be passed this year.
