Forget about C-6... C-210 and other bills are far more important to the liberals.

That's what i've been saying for a while .


Now they all want to tattoo this bill , and please people , please , do not rely on those tweets nor place hopes on them . We've been tricked more than once .

Here is the story of what happened :

First of all , when Sen Omidvar ( Sponsor ) said clearly right after committee (even during ) that they will only present an amendment regarding the revocation process . Then Sen Omidvar became inactive and stopped communicating , it turned out that Sen Jaffer took the lead and ended up being bombarded by tweets . Sen harder and Sen Jaffer said , just about 48 hours ago , that it should pass by Easter . Then 50 seconds later , they had the information that amendments are coming up and many more others . More explicitly , bill c6 to pass before easter suddenly became impossible .
Then by the tons of messages , they restarted those bids , saying oh now it should pass by the 3rd , mid first week of may .Doesn't it remind you something that occurred last year ? ( all those predictions that ended up in the trash , and there even were articles that predicted stupid timeframes as well )
I'm sorry , but there's no way i'm going to thank them for anything and won't believe them at all until i can see clearly that it actually passed .It came from a good will to present that fair process amendment turned out to be the worst thing that could happen to it since liberals had no leverage from the beginning and ended losing control on everything. And even if it passes the senate , the HoC will still need to review all this mess .

The amendment to repeal the word "written" was voted without a debate.

The speaker asked if the Senators ready for the question on Sen. Oh amendment today, and some said "yes" BUT Sen. Jaffer adjourned.

Debate is not a mandatory though

Debate isnt mandatory but always happens. They only skip it if it is something obvious which this is not.
The more amendments, the higher the chances for additional debate in HoC.

Totally agree. I followed up this c-6 bill since March 2016, felt really tired now. Hate to see they playing the dirty political games and sacrificing the potential new citizens. WTF!

They are proposing bills which have already been rejected many times in HOC and someone clearly said that citizenship right for minors does not make big difference as they can not even vote!!! It looks like each and every senator just wants to put his name in the bill as some contribuition

The new amendment won't pass (minor rights), if you think about, it is not even legal
if the citizenship and the oath considered a contract between you and the government no minors has the right to sign any contracts on his own till the age of 18 and in some countries till the age of 21

It is pure waste of time from Sen. Oh who couldn't get a simple fact straight that they just voted for the amendment of 60 years and kept mentioning the age 55 or 65

Canada would be the first one to allow minors to apply .

No other countries allow it ( US , European countries , Australia ) and at the end they won't be able to vote .
If you're minor , you can't even buy cigarettes and alcohol , but they want to provide them the right to apply for citizenship .
Applying for a citizenship is a complex process and requires to answer very specific questions and to "take an oath " that the information you provide are truthful, what happens if this minor misrepresented himself ? Where are his parents ? Is he emancipated ? Those amendments are raising major constitutional and legal issues .
If the minor is between 14 and 16 , currently passport canada does not allow you to apply for a passport on your own .Will that change too ? Simple bill will end up with a domino effect on a lot of government branches .
You can't even apply for a credit card if you're minor !

And yet that amendment comes from the ones who always "cared" to strengthen the canadian citizenship . Now punch me if it is not made on purpose to mess and joke around , and liberals are watching the show , mouths open and living in teddy bears tales .
