Random observation: It is shocking how unprofessional the senators are. I feel like I know the bill ten times better than them and I read it like twice maybe. Plus procedurally every city council meeting seems more professional.
Third reading in the Senate, then back to the HoC. If the HoC accepts these amendments, the bill goes right to the Governor-General for royal assent. Only if the HoC doesn't agree with the amendments, the ping-pong starts (back to the Senate, back to the HoC, ...)

Good to know.I read somewhere that third reading is just a voting stage and shouldn't take more than a couple of days.So its seems very realistic atm that the bill gets royal assent in 2 months from now or even less ( if hoc accepts the recommendations and passes it on priority basis as it is delayed a lot)
maybe they don't understanding the law but when clause by clause passed it s mean no amendments and passed without amendments so now they discuss about observation. be aware after committee third reading will pass right away without any problem
It wasn't the chair. One of the senators signalled there will be an amendment in the senate.
To clarify: Yes, the committee didn't amend the bill. But the senate will most likely do that. The fact that the committee didn't amend the bill doesn't mean that the senate won't.
Which Senator?Because if he is from liberal side then the bill will have a smooth ride in Hoc otherwise if its a CON then the liberals may not agree with his recommendations and as you said it can start a ping pong like situation.

I'm not sure who it was, but it was someone who said something to the effect of "I welcome C-6 as a bill, it's just the appeals thing we should change"
Also note that yesterday the Minister said that he welcomes such an amendment. And the HoC listens to the government, so I don't think they will oppose that change.
the major responsibility of the committee is to prepare the amendment if any, however in the case of C-6 it passed with clause by clause. so who will be in charge of preparing this amendment and for which clause?
