I am looking for advice from experienced people about bringing money to Canada from India. I have my account in ICICI.
1- Where can one get best possible rate from ? I have looked around and found that banks (ICICI and Scotia) don't offer very good rates.
2- Can I leave money in ICICI account and get it as I need in Canada ?
Any advice will be appreciated.

Did you check Thomas Cook ? or Western Union or Money Gram, there are many sources who does money transfer. There will be agents who does this on small scale, they might be able to help you get good rate.

I've lived in Canada for few years now and have transferred money in and out of India and have used every possible source like Western Union, Wire transfers from your bank, Thomas cook, UAE exchange etc. Out of my experience UAE exchange has the best exchange rates as far as I've seen. If you can find a way to open up a Canadian bank account from there, you should be able to use one of their services to transfer money directly to your bank account here.
I'm not certain that they support India as a source of funds, but I have been using XE.com to move money between my US and Canadian accounts

Nope, as far as I know XE is not available for users in India. I could be wrong and things might have changed now.
