Background check status changed

Hello, I apologize if this has been asked before, but I’m getting mixed answers on the subject. On GCKey, the status of my background check changed to “we are processing your background check. We will send you a message if we need more information”, and I just want to know if this means that they’re already conducting a background check on me. My application was received on June 14 and besides this, the only other update I received was decision made on the sponsor’s Ecas.

@starnaenae Thank you for your reply. Do you know if they could still transfer my file to a VO even in the middle of background check and whether IRCC will request rcmp police check since I’ve been living in Canada for the past few years even tho I applied Outland?

Yes, 8 months. Nothing in this process is normal!!

We are applying from the US Outland. What is the background check? If we’ve already submitted the FBI/Police history and summary with our application will there also be an additional background check. If so, what is involved in that?

But they are silent for 8 months before you got PPR right?

In our situation, after we passed the remedical and background check for 6 months now, still no news. Any insights? Thanks

As i said no insight. There was no correspondance for 8 months then we got ppr

Yes they very well could. We didnt get a transfer email. We knew it was transferred when we got the RCMP check request. Id get the check done and send it. Avoid delays!

Thank you so much! So could you please tell me how do I go about getting the rcmp check and if I have to request a specific type of check? Do I have to tell them that I need it for permanent residency or should I specify it is for spouse sponsorship? (I’m the PA)
