Hi ,

We are planning to carry some jewelery ( gold , silver and diamonds) .
Now ,we will take some when we go and the rest will follow later ( when parents visit or when we travel to India or when the need arises)

Question is : How do we fill the B4 and B4A form .
Do we have to take a picture of each item , put its weight and then write an approximate value ?
Can we just keep all the gold items together ( bangles , chains etc ) and write the net weight , take a combined picture and write a combined appx value.
There was something abt getting a valuation done . How do we go abt getting that done and is it a must ?

Also , what abt the jewelery I wear when I land in Canada ? Where shud I be mentioning that .

Thanks

Qorax .. Couple of questions, sir ...

Is is mentioned anywhere on the Canadian Govt Site that you dont have to pay duty only the 1st time and for the goods to follow items ?
What is the duty that will be charged if u take in a item later that was not mentioned in B4A .
Also, are even visitors supposed to declare what they bring in ? I dont recall declaring anything of this sort when I visited Canada last year .

Thanks

1. I never thought of checking the CBSA site for a confirmation on that. It's just that we all know. And the Visa Instructions + CIC Site [too] mentions that we should take those 2 lists.

2. About the duty chargeable, u may check the CBSA site, it gives various scenarios & costs.

3. Visitors r not required to declare any goods to follow, but they get the 'Customs Declaration' Form. And there r many restrictions on items to bring inside Canada [including quantity]. These r charged. U may get away with it [by non declaring], but if caught, u'll end-up paying hefty fine/s, plus confiscation, plus jail term; -anyone or more or all.
