I was wondering what the average time is for an Outland PR sponsorship. I am a Canadian citizen living in the US with my American husband and son who I am sponsoring. We are all eager to move to Canada and are trying to strategize roughly when that might happen. Assuming our package doesn’t get returned what is average for an American Outland spousal application these days? I know someone who recently was done in 6 months but I’m also hearing AOR can take 3 months. Do things speed up a lot once AOR happens?

I confess that I am not 'up' on outland IUS sponsorship timescales, but I BELIEVE that six months from receipt to approval is pretty normal. For outland UK sponsorship for UK citizens (i.e. visa exempt) it is about 7-9 months, but then London visa office is notoriously backlogged!
AOR1 should take 4 - 6 week. Sponsor approval should take 8 - 12 weeks (from receipt, not from AOR). The they forward it on to the visa office that would deal with outland US applications for PA assessment and approval.
Can I ask what the circumstances of your app were? Married, kids, where applying from, etc? If you’d rather not share I understand. It seems considerably longer than what I’d heard so far (and certainly longer than we’re hoping ours will take). Thanks!

I am interested in this too, as I am a Canadian citizen living in the US, planning to submit an application in the next few weeks to sponsor my US common-law partner.
6 months would be great for us as we're hoping we could make a move next summer. We think we have a pretty straight forward application and just hoping things will go smoothly.

Our application was moved through incredibly fast. I was expecting approximately 12 months since that is what the average processing time said on the website. It was about 3.5 months from application received (5/7/18) to decision made/passport request (8/21/18). Not sure if we are an exception or if things are moving faster these days for US citizens. The longest wait was once the background check started. Everything else was done within a few weeks of AOR. You can see my timeline in my profile. If you have any other questions, let me know and I will try to answer them.
