Hi all,
I just called ircc and its says eligibility not started background check is processing??
How much approx time for checking eligibility and background
It is just the average processing time. What constitutes unreasonable delay can be 2-3 years. Also, different timelines for different complexities of application.
Could be all within one day, could take months. This said you should see FD within 5 months of AOR and that is a timeline IRCC officially acknowledges

So background check is last option ??

SLA is only of processing 80% applications within 6 months. On top of that, your application can be tagged non-routine too. Even if you put that aside, they can pause between substages of eligibility, background check, etc too. Also, writing to MPs will do nothing as they can't force IRCC's decision making or speed up your application, at best they can make an inquiry on your behalf and get back to you with info.

Well really depends on if your MP wants to pick trouble with the cabinet, which seems to be the case for many people in opposition ridings. At the end of the day if you really want to force a decision there's always judicial review if it's been years... Also it's mostly MPs' aides processing the inquiries anyways, and their attitude to working with non-voting constituents can vary a lot

I think you answered it in your second line. Basically, MPs can't do much to influence visa processing timelines. JD is the way to go if there's an unreasonable delay. Everything else is just a waiting game tbh.

I agree, but realistically you won't even get past the leave stage if you petition for JR after just months... at least MPs will give you some information and I think it soothes people?
