August 2020 - Citizenship application

Hello,

I just sent my Citizenship application last week by regular mail. can you tell me how will IRCC inform me about the receipt? Email? mail?

Location: Hamilton
Application Sent: August 7th
Application Received:
Type of application: citizenship
Physical presence: 1100 days

They will send an AOR (acknowledgement of Receipt). An AOR indicates that the Canadian government/agency has received your application for citizenship and has issued a case file number for the application submitted. If you have provided an email address they will likely send it via that means otherwise it will be by snail mail(i.e regular mail).

**Points to note** there is no established timeframe for this since they current have a backlog of files/envelopes to open and acknowledge.
The other applicants here in the forums have an idea that their applications have reached the physical location of IRCC as a result of using courier or express mail. This option has a tracking/signature feature..

Through AOR provided everything is correct and complete on your application which can take about 4-6 months from the time when they get your application based on backlog these days.

6 months, OMG. Well, I am pretty sure I did not make any mistake. Now, this AOR will be added to my CIC account? will I be able to track the progress of the application like we did during PR?

IRCC will send you AOR through email or regular mail based on your details in application. You have to use below link;

Hi all,

I have an urgent question. I was going to mail my wife's and my applications today, but I noticed that my wife's IELTS is the Academic one. Is it kay to send it as it is? if not can I send my own application today and then send her two month later when she take the IELTS General?

Yes. IELTS General should be the one attached to the application.

Your wife can also attach copies of her undergrad/post-grad education completed in English as proof of the English language as its equally acceptable.

Thank you Rafzy, but she only took few courses at Dawson College and she will be an undergrad student next semester. Will they return the application if we put Academic? Can we attache a letter in which we explain that we will send a new General IELTS in next few weeks?

Well, I think Dawson college courses should be good enough to prove that your wife knows English. You should attach copies of those certificates and a letter and I don't see any reason for them to not accept it as proof of English language.
