What does your background check say?
What does your background check say?
Your application in progress. We will send you a message when we start your BG check.
Feeling generally cranky and bitter today. Called IRCC to ask about a peculiar situation (below). And incidentally got to know that Eligibility has still not been started. Criminality is still in progress even though a month has passed after giving biometrics.
New problem: I had a major legal name change a few years back and my PCC from my country of citizenship was issued to me under my new legal name. Now someone on myimmitracker seems to have been refused because their pcc did not mention both old and new names. I am so irritated. In my country, the PCC is linked to (and specifically cites) a person's passport number. Updating my new name on my passport had already required me to have a police check done before they updated it—which means that any pcc obtained after updating the passport automatically applies to both my names which are in the system. But of course, IRCC probably does not know that my country links PCCs to passports.
@legalfalcon Do you have any advice on what I should do about this? The IRCC agent was no help and cryptically said: "Wait and see if they ask for any clarification." In other words, wait and see if they reject your application without asking for any clarification.

First of all, IRCC is aware of most PCC form all countries is handles. If you changed your name, then the same name will be reflected in your passport and PCC, so there is no need to worry.
People write a lot of stuff what they feel was the reason for the refusal and often leave the real reason.
If you have any concerns, you can send a LoE and explain this. However, I don't see any concerns as your name in PCC and passport is the same.
