Now since you posted this please explain, are there any particular factors leading to that?

Security screening occurs if the visa officer suspects a possible threat for canada.. the reasons can be numerous, for instance the applicant or the spouse having a criminal record/history , has dwelled/is from/ travelled several times to infamous and notoriously reknown regions or countries ( known for terrorism/ narco trade etc) etc.. In such instances , they get into indepth investigation as Canada in no way seeks to attract trouble in any form, jeopardising the Canadian way of life.

All applications get through security check and only few of them get under security screen. This is deeper and more detailed check which takes a looong time , noone knows what is criteria for being one of those unlucky applicants. Some believe that it happens if you work for the government or did military service, or lived in many countries, so on. I got it checked from employer and my aor is 18 auguAu
