Applying visitor visa extension while previous extension application is in progress

Hi All,
My mother-in-law's visit visa extension was requested online for a period of 6 months from Sep 15, 2020 to Mar 15, 2021
There has been no update to this application and its status continues to show "Your application is in progress" message
We want to extend her stay past Mar 15, 2021.
Is it possible to apply for another extension while her previous application for extension is still under process?

She is not in a position to travel immediately and we are planning to extend her stay.
Is it possible to apply for another extension while her previous application for extension is still under process?

Don't apply for another extension.

You need to wait until there is a decision in the extension application that is already in progress.

She has implied status and can remain in Canada until she hears a result.
