I married someone one from Canada in March. I am from the US. We are getting ready to apply outland. How soon can I join him in Canada? I have daughter still in secondary school is she able to attend school while waiting for the process. I guess I am confused about whether you have to wait until the whole process is completed or what. If we apply outland and I go there does that change the process to inland? We have known each other for over 10 years, have spent the last 3 years together when we have holidays. We do not want to be apart any longer. Any advice would be welcomed !
You can come join him right away, as an American does not need a visa. You will be 'visiting', though. Usually you can stay for 6 months, unless the border official gives you less time, and you can apply to get that extended.

Officially, if she goes to school in Canada she needs a study permit and will have to pay school fees - outrageously high in some cases (12,000 to 17,000 dollars a year). Some Americans recently posted about this. The majority seemed to decide to home school during the wait - or maybe your daughter could stay with a relative and continue in the States? One member posted that the principal of the Canadian school in her area did not know about the school fees, so maybe you'll get lucky and she can attend without paying.
