Applying for Canadian study permit along with US citizen dependent child

I am Indian citizen but my 3 years old child is born US citizen. I am going to apply for Canadian Study permit (with Temp resident visa) and my spouse applying for the visitor visa. Duration of my degree course is 15 months. We are going to apply for Canadian visa from India.

Question is - Do my minor kid (who has US passport) require a visitor visa to travel with us to Canada and stay there for 15 months ?

I heard that US citizens don't require Canadian visitor visa if stay is 180 days or less but what if the stay is for 15 months?

Please help.

Your child does not need a visitor visa. When you enter Canada, ask CBSA to issue the child a Visitor Record matching the length of your study permit.

Only issue is that your child and spouse may not have access to provincial healthcare. They may have access to your university plan. All depend on the province. Also families are not guaranteed to be given a visa when you are a student. Because your child has a visa-exempt she can enter.

What if I apply for Temp resident visa (Visitor TRV) for my kid (who has US passport ONLY) at Canadian Consulate in India along with my study permit application and spouse's Visitor TRV, will consulate reject my kid's visitor TRV application? Is it legally possible to issue visitor TRV to a US passport holder individual (minor or adult) ?

FYI - My university is in Ontario province.

You can't apply for a TRV for your child. As I said, ask for the VR for the child when you enter.
