I am currently working on a PGWP. I have two citizenships. I have a TRV on passport A that's expiring in October 2024. I applied for a new TRV with passport B. Today I got a letter saying they withdrew my application because I applied for a visitor record but I currently hold a work permit, and they invited me to apply for a visitor visa. I even submitted a letter explaining all this and that I was applying for a visitor visa.
I have applied for visitor visa before, for myself and for my parents.
This is clearly an error from their side. What can I do now? I could just reapply but that means waiting an extra month and paying another $100. Can I submit a webform even if the application has been withdrawn?
This is what the letter says:
This refers to your application for a Visitor Record in Canada. According to our records, you already hold a valid Work Permit. As a result, you may wish to consider applying for a temporary resident visa instead. Your file has now been closed and no processing will take place. If you wish to submit a new application, you will have to resubmit all required documents and pay new processing fees

What is your objective? Are you trying to switch your status from worker to visitor?
No, I wanted to get a new TRV as my current one is expiring in October. But when I applied for a TRV, they said I applied for a visitor record and withdrew my application because I already have a work permit. I want to know if I can send a webform for a withdrawn application or do I have to simply apply again for another TRV.

Are you sure you applied for a TRV?

I'm in the same situation. Even tough i have applied for TRV, it says on the letter:
'This refers to your application for a visitor record in Canada.
According to our records, you already hold a valid work permit. As a result, you may wish to consider applying for a temporary resident visa instead.'
What steps did you take after that? Im also thinking to apply new one but its clearly a mistake from their side.
TIA
I couldn't find any similar cases anywhere, so I'm just reapplying. I am filling the forms and making sure everything is clear that I need a visitor visa, not a visitor record. Hope they don't f*** up this time.
I was going to send an email explaining my situation but i guess its going to take another month to understand their mistake.
On the additional document section of my application i clearly declare that i need TRV to coming back to Canada, but they said on their letter, it was referring to visitor record.
I will do the same thing with reapplying with attaching their withdrawal letter decision and clearly explaining my TRV application on additional document section.
What did you choose on section 'purpose of my visit' on your imm5257e form ?
is there any update on your application? i applied to mine on sept 23 and still waiting.

Re applied on Sep 24th, no updates.
I got my application result for my wife and its same like before. It says:

Do you know how to object to this decision online? TIA
There is different method to apply for temperary resident visa. You need to mention work in the questions asked. Then follow the steps along

thanks for the answer. what do you mean with 'work' ? like purpose of travel out of Canada? if you can refer the section on the application that would be great
So if you are applying for temporary resident visa(Stamp), and you are on post graduate work permit, then when you start with Question- Answers then there is a question that what would you like to do in canada- then there you need to mention work- and then follow along with QA
