Applied BOWP on Implied/Maintained Status (April 2024)

Hello Everyone,

I got an EE invite on April 11th under the STEM draw. I need some help regarding my working status.

My work permit expired mid-march but I applied for a work permit extension before that. Now being on maintained status, I would be applying for my BOWP. If my work permit extension application gets refused, do I have to cease working or can I continue as I would be on implied status again considering my BOWP application?

Any information is greatly appreciated.

There's a possibility it might, yes.

No, you'll no longer be on implied status if that happens. You'll be out of status.

Thankyou so much for this information and I have another question for you. I currently do not have a WP-Ext letter from my first application as I did not receive one from the past 1 month. But I applied for a work permit before my post-graduation work permit expired. Can I apply for a BOWP using my submission confirmation?

Im in a slightly different situation, i have applied for pr claiming 50 points and applied for bowp before my current work permit expires. My employer and existing immigration firm is taking longer to process the closed work permit and Im not sure if they would file it even. Now in case if i lose my job while on maintained bowp status what would be my options? Im i allowed to remain in canada and wait for the decision or should i apply for visitor record until i find a employer to sponsor my new work permit?

Hi, I’m kinda in the same situation. I applied for PR under CEC on March and was awarded 50 points for arranged employment and my closed work permit expires on Septermber.

My employer gave me another LMIA so I applied for another cwp while waiting for my PR.

Unfortunately, I got terminated.

I informed IRCC and applied for bridging open work permit right away using the AOR I received when I applied for my PR.

I regret not to apply for bowp right away after I received the AOR from applying my PR because I not know I will get terminated.

For now, I waiting to get my PR or my bwop approval because I cannot work yet.

Yes, you can remain in Canada under maintained status. Do you still have enough points to make the cut off for the draw without the 50 job offer points? Hopefully so.
