Application to extend stay or remain in Canada as a Worker

Hi there,
we are filling out an application for my husband to extend his Open Work permit in conjunction with his Family Class Spousal Sponsorship application for Permanent Residency. In the Open Work permit application i am confused on question 3 as to which box to tick for which status he is applying for
a) apply for work permit with the same employer (he is currently unemployed)
b) restore my status as a worker (his permit is still valid)
c) apply for a work permit for the first time or with a new employer (maybe this one)
d) get a new temporary resident permit (for inadmissible applicants only) - what does this mean!?!

i'm confused...
