We are just about to send our pack and i have a few questions that maybe someone can help me with.
We are sending our pack to our lawyer in canada as we live in Bermuda, so i'm just wondering about the process. He sends teh pack to Missasuagua for approval and then once approved it gets forwraded to Buffalo?? Then its just a waiting game right?
Also once you receive confirmation that the visa has been approved, how long do you have before you have to move to Canada, My Fiancee and I are hoping to do some travelling once we finish work in Bermuda and move back to Canada
Yes, you may land and then leave. You will need your PR card to return as a PR, so you might want to arrange for a trusted family member or friend to receive it and forward it to you. Remember that whatever address you used as your intended address in Canada is where it will be sent.
Actually, Charlie, if you are traveling by LAND, you don't need you PR card to return, just your passport and the PR paperwork that they will staple into your passport when you land. It's only necessary to have your PR card to return if you are traveling by land or sea.
we are planning on travelling to south america, so teh first time i land, I will ahve my Visa and paperwork, after that i have a PR card but how long before I Receive the card. Sorry this is all very confusing
I think it usually takes about 4 to 6 weeks after you land but it CAN take up to three months.... However, they send your card to an address in Canada, so you will have to find a way to get it to you while you're abroad.
What happens if i enter Canada and i don't have it on me?? Can i just get it, leave Canada and then re-enter with it??
I am just curious as i have a friends wedding in Ireland next July, if the process took that long and we have re-entered but i don't have my card for the trip to Ireland, how do i get back into Canada?
If you are from a visa-exempt country, you can re-enter without the card. If you are from a non-visa-exempt country, you apply at the nearest Canadian embassy for a travel document, which is basically a permit to re-enter the country without your PR card.
